5. ETHIC FRAGMENT (片倫)

A puzzle emerges in this chapter, one of a semi-painful kind, but not too hard to figure out. 🙂

giving me the mean eye while he was at it,
telling me my skirt was too short…

the teacher didn’t fight back at all.

Setting up a routine in the classroom is not an accomplishment.
His job is to teach, isn’t it?
He’s one of those peeps who go into sermon mode
and think they’re sooo important when they do that.
It’s shit like that that pisses me off!!

(Attention. OK, so this is where the messed up part really begins. As soon as you leave the classroom, if you try to go anywhere, such as upstairs or to the north side of the school building, you’ll wind up on the first floor of the north side. That’s, getting from the third floor all the way to the first floor in one sitting. Mitra has set up all the entrances and exits to lead to places that shouldn’t be where you would wind up. So if you go through this puzzle blind, you’ll wind up getting lost, and pissed. Fortunately, this doesn’t randomize every place you go to. Think of it all as a one-way system. One exit goes to some other place, but if you try to go back the way you came, you’ll just wind up in another place. The first part is already rigged to send you up to the roof. As you all shall see…)

(Ahem. As I mentioned before, most of the areas are one-way teleporters. Each door, stairway, and connecting corridor that you use could lead you to somewhere else. And once you’re on the other side, you can’t go back the way you came. It’s important to keep track of where the “connectors” lead. This is the complete list of Mitra’s arrangement of the entrances and exits:

TRANSLATOR’S NOTES:
(1) “ヘボい” or “へぼい”, means “clumsy/bungling”. Most especially referring to ability or skill. Dating all the way back to the Edo period, it was a slang word they used to refer to amateurs. Kazuki was that close to actually calling Mika a “noob”. LMAO
(2) I have exactly no idea what “HAISHIKKUSU” is supposed to refer to, but I’m going with FM radio.
(3) “チョーパン” is a Korean form of headbutting in wrestling terms.
(4) “エクスプロイダー”/Exployder: also known as the “T-Bone Suplex”.
(5) Katakana. In text, this is how children speak. Take note that this was also taken into consideration in Fatal Frame 4, coincidentally written by Suda. Here Mika regresses to that of a preschooler.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
So. That was a deceptively short chapter. Not including the maze, it ends as abruptly as it began.

I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a close-up of Mika at the end. The bangs are chopped, for one. The closest it comes in appearance so far is Kyouko. And she’s dead.

And lastly……disturbing. But admit it. When you were a kid, you poked dead animals on the road with a stick, full of morbid fascination for the state that it has fallen to. For me, it was the frogs. I even used to squish ants for the fun of it. Kids can kill something not out of hate or fear, but curiosity. There was a point Suda was trying to make here, but it got lost in my n00b audio translations of the “kill the life, never cry” phrasing. Nakayoku tomodachi ne…♪

It’s sad. I don’t know if I just missed him during my run-through, but I couldn’t find Aramata anywhere. 😦

The sequence with Mika’s katakana requires bad spelling and punctuation just to get a feel of Mika’s “kiddish” moments. Sorry if it was coming off as awkward, folks.
